The show has been billed as the sassiest, classiest show this side of Nashville and, if folks in Pike County are anything like country music fans across the country, they’ll have to step on their toes to keep them from tapping.

The show is sponsored by the Troy Council on the Arts and Humanities and is one of annual several offerings that have received acclaim outside the state and throughout the region.

"The arts council sponsored a Springer Theater production, ‘Always, Patsy Cline,’ last year and it was so successful that we decided to bring another of their productions to Troy," said Jerry Spann, arts council member. "We expect ‘Honky Tonk Angels’ to be just as successful, if not more successful, because people know that performances by the Springer Theater Tour are outstanding."

Spann said the production has a storyline interwoven with some of the most popular hits of the most popular country music female artists.

"’Honky Tonk Angels’ tells the story of three aspiring singers who walk away from their workday lives and head for Nashville," he said.

The show features powerhouse singer-actresses performing 20 country classics including the title song, "Honky Tonk Angels" made popular by Kitty Wells, "Coal Miner’s Daughter by Loretta Lynn, "Delta Dawn by Tanya Tucker and "I Will Always Love You by Dolly Parton.

The show also features traditional songs that will have the audience tapping their toes and singing along.

"The first act closes with ‘I’ll Fly Away’ and the show ends with two traditional favorites, ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Will the Circle Be Unbroken,’" Spann said.

"Honky Tonk Angels" is

a show that all fans of country music will enjoy and one that will make country music fans out of everyone else.
