Jessie Mae Lane of Brundidge died Tuesday, July 10, 2001.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at Tennille Road Church of Christ with the Rev. Ira D. Simmons officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Olive No. 1 Cemetery with Bell’s Liptrot/Dawson Funeral Home directing.
Hilda Jordan Gibson
Hilda Jordan Gibson, 76, of Troy died Friday, July 13, 2001 at Jackson Hospital.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at First Baptist Church of Troy with the Rev. Dr. Ed Walter officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Troy with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Mrs. Gibson was a founding member (at the close of World War II) of the Builders Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church in Troy. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary group since it was founded at Beard Hospital and was also a long-time member of the Troy Charity League.
Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte Gibson of Troy; a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Bo Smilie of Montgomery; a son and daughter-in-law, J. Russell and Mary Katherine Gibson III of Tuscaloosa; a son, Alan Brett Gibson of Troy; a granddaughter, Martin Gibson of New York; five grandsons, Parker and Clay Smilie of Montgomery, William, George and Jon Blakeney of Tuscaloosa, two sisters, Betty Jordan Baxter of Georgia and Martha Jordan Proffitt of Indiana; eight brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; 10 nieces, eight nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband J. Russell Gibson Jr.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Baxter, Hal Baxter, David Gibson, Johnny Gibson, Edward Hall, Patrick Hall, Ed Proffitt and Stuart Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Builders Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church of Troy and the members of the Hospital Auxiliary Monday Girls.
Visitation will be held from 2-3 p.m. Sunday, July 15 at the First Baptist Church of Troy.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the First Baptist Church of Troy’s Building Fund or your favorite charity.
