Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 14 at Williams Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Brundidge with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Mr. Flowers was born in Pike County on Jan. 13, 1931 to Clarence Albert and Rebecca Connor Flowers. He graduated from Central High School in Phenix City in 1949 and worked, for a short time, at the Eagle and Phenix Mill prior to joining the U.S. Marine Corps. While in service, he met and married his wife, Eleanor. Byron worked for Sunshine Biscuit Company in Columbus, Ga. for 39 years until his retirement. He was a past member of Williams Chapel United Methodist Church in Brundidge and Alexandria United Methodist Church in Fort Mitchell.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Eleanor Flowers of Elizabeth City; daughter and son-in-law, Carmen and Joe McCroy of Salisbury, Md.; grandsons, Jacob and Connor McCroy of Salisbury; brother, William I. (Pat) Flowers of Lineville; sister, Mary Alice Flowers Roney of Phenix City; nephews, Mickey and Allen Flowers of Lineville; niece, Terry Roney Daniels of Phenix City; four great-nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Allen Flowers, Don Flowers, Heath Flowers, Mickey Flowers, Rodney Flowers and Wesley Flowers. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Carter and Randy Daniels.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

Luther "Bo" Eiland

Luther "Bo" Eiland, 52, of Goshen died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at his home.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14 at Dillard Funeral Chapel in Troy with the Rev. Marvin Jackson officiating. Burial will be at Providence Cemetery in Glenwood with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Survivors include his mother, Jenita West Eiland of Goshen; two sisters, Beulah Eiland and Buna Messisk, both of Goshen; two brothers, Larry Eiland and Johnny Eiland, both of Goshen; brother and sister-in-law, Jeffrey and Joanne Eiland of Troy; nephews, Jason (Brandi) Eiland of Troy and Scott Eiland of Goshen; great-nephew, Noah Eiland of Troy.

He was preceded in death by his father, Luther Lee Eiland.

Pallbearers will be Edwin Collins, Rodger Blair, Charles Sanders, Donnie Richards, Scott Eiland and Jason Eiland.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

John Delmar Lott Sr.

John Delmar Lott Sr., 80, of Brundidge died Wednesday, July 11, 2001 at Whittington Manor in Brundidge.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 14 at Williams Chapel Methodist Church in Brundidge with the Rev. Bobby Weeks officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge with Skeen Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Mr. Lott was employed at Fort Rucker for 36 years. He was a member of the Brundidge Lions Club.

Survivors include three sons, John D. Lott Jr. of Brundidge, Paul Lee Lott of Mt. Hope and James Robert Lott of Brundidge; daughter, Jean Davis of Union Springs; brother and sister-in-law, William E. and Mary Will Lott of Bessemer; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jimmy and Betty Hussey of Troy; grandchildren, Wiley Lott of Rogers, Ark., Angie Gaurian of Tampa, Fla., Brandon Lott of Brundidge, Jennifer Lott of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth Pauline Lott of Ozark, Cleve Henderson of Eagle, Colo., Constance Davis, Charlie Davis and Caleb Davis, all of Union Springs and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Lott, and a granddaughter, Jennifer Lee Henderson.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., today at Skeen Funeral Home in Brundidge. He will lie in state from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.

 

Sylvester "Syl" Woods

Sylvester Woods, 58, died Monday, July 9, 2001.

Services will be Saturday, July 14 at George F. Grubbs Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Gary Chance officiating. Burial will be at McClure Town C.O.G.I.C. Cemetery in Troy with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

Mr. Woods was born Sept. 8, 1942 in Troy to Robert Lee and Wealtha Mae Woods. He was one of nine children of that union. He attended Union Hill Elementary (Pike County Public Schools) and was active in their 4-H program, which was beneficial during his adult life. As a youth, he also attended McClure Town Church of God in Christ under the pastoral of the late Elder Willie Paul.

He was a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio and was married to Jacqueline Rogers-Woods. For many years, he worked for WKRC-TV as a grounds maintenance engineer. His declining health forced him to retire and seek his own business. He was instrumental in operating a tire and battery recycling center in the community where he lived. Disregarding his pain and suffering, Syl was a hard worker (a trait he learned from his dad) and was working at his end.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Jackie; one step daughter, Minister Juanette "Tiny" (Leroy) Campbell of Cincinnati; two sons, Larry Lee Woods of Detroit, Mich. and Sylvester Woods Jr. of Cincinnati; parents, Robert Lee and Wealtha Mae Woods of Troy; five brothers, Joe (Gussie) Boyd, Harvey Woods and Larvey Woods, both of Cincinnati, Matthew Woods and Jimmy (Cornelia) Woods, both of Troy; three sisters, Robbie Woods-Davidson, Bernice (Cliff) Woods-Walker and Brenda (Gary) Woods-Chance, all of Cincinnati; aunt, Evangelist Inez Jackson; one step granddaughter; two step great-grandchildren, all of Cincinnati; a very devoted friend/sister, Tanya Dawson of Cincinnati; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers and floralbearers.
