It’s nice to have something to be proud of and Troy has that in four of its recreation league baseball and softball teams.

Three of these teams were softball squads from ages 9-15 and a majority of these players were named to their league’s tournament rosters. That means their are a number of girl softball players out there who have yet to lose a game this season and that bodes well for Troy’s chances in the softball sub-district and district tournaments.

Already the Troy Dixie Angels have swept three straight games, although Andalusia gave them

a little scare on Saturday night. Troy was able to come back and win 12-10 over Andalusia.

Here’s something interesting about the Angels Sub-District tournament which is being held in Andalusia. Troy manhandled Elba on Friday night and then beat the host team Andalusia on Saturday. But Troy was still forced to play an extra game against Elba on Monday, while Andalusia, with the one loss, got a free bye to the championship game.

Troy’s record: 2-0. Andalusia’s record: 2-1. Elba’s record 1-1.

How does an unbeaten end up playing the deciding game to get into the championship, while Andy, with the one blemish, gets a free ride to the Tuesday night title fight? It sounds as if Elba and Andalusia should have been playing on Monday for the right to play Troy on Tuesday.

I don’t know.

Maybe that’s why I’m not a Parks and Rec Director.

I’m looking forward to the Dixie Boys (13 and14-year-olds) and the Dixie Youth tournaments starting this weekend. Hope to see you all there.
