Troy State fell 5-1 to Stetson in the first seven-inning match-up of a doubleheader at Riddle-Pace Field on Saturday, but came back to take the second game 7-2.

In the first game of the day, the Trojans started off with a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning when senior Casey Smith came home off of a ground out to second base by freshman designated hitter Wade Miller.

Stetson (25-4, 8-1 TAAC) took over the lead in the top of the next inning with a RBI single by Josh Laws and a throwing error by Trojan pitcher Mickey Oquinn that allowed Rusty Beale to score from third.

The Hatters added to their lead with a three-run home run by Lee Bagley in the seventh inning to put them ahead of the Trojans, 5-1.

Junior Brian Sullivan (4-1) earned the win on the mound for Stetson, allowing one unearned run off of five hits in six innings.

Senior Mickey Oquinn (2-3), a native of Pensacola, Fla., suffered the loss for the Trojans. Oquinn scattered five runs off of eight hits while striking out six batters in seven innings.

Four home runs and a RBI double gave Troy State (15-16, 4-5 TAAC) the 7-2 win in the second game of the day, final game of the three-game series. Freshman third baseman Brian Lipman and sophomore Al Stephens had a solo homer apiece, while junior Coby Smith, an outfielder from Cottonwood, Ala., had two solo homers, his first and second of the season. Stephens also had a fifth-inning double down the left field line to score Lipman from second.

The Hatters only runs came in the top of the third inning off of a two-run home run by Chris Westervelt.

Freshman Eric Wikstrom (3-3), a righty from Roseville, Minn., picked up the win for the Trojans. Wikstrom allowed two runs off of seven hits in six and two-thirds innings.

Jason Oglesby (6-1) had the loss for Stetson, pitching the first two and two-thirds innings and allowing three runs off of four hits.
