Mary Jane Stringer, 57, of Troy died Sunday, March 11, 2001 at her residence.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, March 16 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. A.C. Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Street Memorial Cemetery with George F. Grubbs Funeral Home directing.

She was born May 23, 1943 in Troy to John and Willie Stringer. She attended the Troy public schools and was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Joseph Lee Stringer, Jennifer and Leon Bess, all of Troy, Diane and Melvin Johnson of Charleston, S.C., Dorotha Stringer of Norcross, Ga., Jeffery and Seichko Johnson of Japan; sister, Dorotha Thomas of Troy; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe and Charlotte Stringer of Tuscaloosa, Jimmy and Helen Stringer of Valrico, Fla.; friend, Lessie Thomas of Troy; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Nieces and granddaughters will serve as floralbearers.

Nettie Mae Butts

Nettie Mae Butts, 83, of Troy died Thursday, March 8, 2001 at Edge Regional Medical Center.

Services will be at 3 p.m., Friday, March 16 at Lilly Baptist Church with the Rev. John H. Curry Sr. officiating. Burial will be at Carroll Street Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.

She was born March 18, 1917 in Pike County to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Henry Davis.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., today at Harrison Funeral Home. The body will lie in state 2-3 p.m., Friday.
