The artists’ reception for the “4 Painters” at the Johnson Center for the Arts Sunday afternoon was a great success, with the four artists, Richard Mills, George Taylor, Clark Walker and John Wagnon in attendance.

Wiley White, Center development coordinator, said the four artists have Montgomery connections and a large group from Montgomery attended the reception.

“The artists were very pleased with the way the exhibit was hung and they raved about the building,’ White said. “They were very thankful that this grand old building has been preserved and, especially, as an art gallery. And, we were pleased that the artists were pleased.”

White said the artwork of the four painters is varied.

“We have everything from landscapes to portraits to abstracts,” she said. “Each artist has such a distinct style and it is amazing to see it displayed together. The artwork is colorful and it mixes well. It’s a great show and one that will continue to generate interest.”

The “4 Painters” exhibit will hang through April and will be featured at TroyFest April 28 and 29.

The Charles Henderson High School Senior Art Exhibit and the TroyFest Student Art Competition will also be featured at the Johnson Center during the month of April and at TroyFest.

Two Pike County legendary artists, Jean Lake and Pugh Windham, will be featured in the “Pike County Masters” exhibition that opens April 25 in the lower level gallery.

The exhibition will run through May 30.

The “4 Painters” exhibit is open Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. until April 28. The exhibit will also be open on Sunday, April 29 from noon until 3 p.m. for the TroyFest Arts & Craft Festival. Admission to the Johnson Center for the Arts is always free of charge.
