Those who have one of those disorderly dogs may want to consider a new class being offered by the Troy Parks and Recreation Department.
Beginning March 3, the department will have dog obedience classes on Saturday mornings. Cost of the eight-week course is $40.
To some that might be a relatively small price to pay for some piece of mind.
Stacy Bobo, who will teach the class, has been training dogs most of her life.
"I’ve been involved with dog obedience and training forever," Bobo said.
Because of her experience training dogs, Bobo saw a need here and offered to teach the course.
"Nobody’s offer it here," Bobo said of dog obedience classes. "I spoke to Dan (Smith, director of the Parks and Recreation Department) and he was excited about it."
Now, she will be doing what she enjoys and helping others to better train their four-legged friends.
She said the basic obedience class will allow owners to get their dog "to and from the vet without major troubles."
Some of the lessons will include teaching man’s best friend to sit, stay, heel, lie down and walk on a leash.
Bobo said she hopes enough people will register for the class that, later, she can offer classes for puppies dogs 4 months to a year old and older dogs.
"If we have more people sign up, we’ll start another class," Bobo said.
