Lauren Nicole Austin, 17, of Troy, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 as the result of an automobile accident.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at Hephzibah Baptist Church with the Revs. Don Hatcher and David Jordan officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hills Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.
Survivors include her mother, Karen Dykes Outlaw of Troy; father and stepmother, Rickey and Wanda Austin of Ozark; sister, Megan Outlaw; stepsister, Angela Hatten of Ozark; grandparents, frank and Lois Dykes of Brundidge, Helen Smith of Ariton and Betty Blocker of Ozark; aunts, Anne Carter, Nancy Gunter and Brenda Lewis; uncles, Brent Austin and Dan Dykes and several cousins.
Her grandfather James Austin preceded her in death.
Lauren was a junior at Pike Liberal Arts School. She was a member of the National Honors Society, the girls’ basketball team, a varsity cheerleader and a member of the Twenty-One Club.
Honorary pallbearers will be the PLAS girls’ varsity basketball team, the PLAS varsity cheerleaders, Robert Hawkins, Trina Hale, and the faculty and staff of Pike Liberal Arts School.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pike Liberal Arts School or Hephzibah Baptist Church.
Iona Flowers
Iona Flowers, 77, of Goshen, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2001 at Crenshaw Baptist Medical Center.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2001 at Goshen First Baptist Church with Elder George Stringer officiating. Burial will follow at New Mt. Zion Cemetery in China Grove with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
Flowers was born Oct. 23, 1923 in Pike County to Alex Spikner and Francis Pickett Spikner. She was employed by Troy State University in food service.
Survivors include three children, Mack (Frances) Barber and Willie Joe Flowers, both of Goshen, Betty (Bernard) James of Nachez, Miss.; three sisters, Sweetie Mae Baldwin of Troy, Mattie Jane Ivey of Union Springs; Mary Francis McGrady of Anderson, Ind.; and one brother L.B. Spikner.
One daughter, Ida Mae Barber, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from noon until 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29. 2001.
