George O. McCall of Troy died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2001.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Green Hills Memorial Park in Troy with the Rev. Charles Folkes officiating and Skeen Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Grimmer, Ricky Christian, Trent McCall, Brad Gibson, Tory McCall and Mark Skipper.

Mr. McCall was a member of First Baptist Church, Montgomery Lodge #11 Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies and Alcazar Shrine, all in Montgomery. He was employed for many years by Meadow Gold Ice Cream Co. of Montgomery.

Survivors include his wife, Helen P. McCall; daughter, Jerelyn M. Grimmer of Dothan; son, Ronny McCall of Montgomery; two sisters, Helen Johnson and Ruby Blevins of Montgomery; four grandchildren: Tommy Grimmer and Kim Skipper, both of Dothan, Trent and Tory McCall, both of Montgomery; six great-grandchildren; step-sons, Riley Gibson

and Brad Gibson, both of Tallahassee, Fla.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today at Skeen Funeral Home of Troy.

Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.

James Luther "Shorty" Sims

James Luther "Shorty" Sims, 79, of Goshen died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001 at Dale County Hospital in Ozark.

Services will be at 2 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, 2001 at Harmony Baptist Church, Old 231 Highway in Troy, with the Revs. Jerry Wilkes David Floyd officiating. Burial will be at Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing.

Pallbearers will be Charles McLeod, Ron Mills, Wade Locklar, Ronnie Gorman, Billy Sims and Tony Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Wallace Jeter and Joe Calvin McLeod.

Mr. Sims was born Oct. 16, 1921 in Greensboro and was a lifelong resident of Pike County. He worked many years as a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary A. Sims; infant daughter, Betsy Lou Sims and parents, Lottie Elizabeth and Frank Sims.

Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Sims of Goshen, Dave and Deborah Sims of Luverne; daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Ellen and Charlie Simmons of Troy, Alice and Charles McLeod of Goshen, Ann and Ron Mills of Ozark, Betty and Bill Stewart of Troy; grandchildren and their spouses: Donna and Greg Turner, Ronald and Barbara Simmons, Chuck McLeod and Paige Bullard, Dawn Locklar Pyron, Janie and Shane Sutton, Merritt Mills, Michele Mills, Lindsay Sims, Robin Sims, Anna Sims; great-grandchildren: Tasha Simmons, Dillon Turner, Dalton Turner; sister, Helen Thornton; uncle, Gurthy Sims of Opp; step-grandchildren and their spouses: Nan and Johnny Whitehead, Ann and Mike Watkins, Betty Joe Banks, Crystal Breaux, step-great-grandchildren, Amy and Jonathon Whitehead, Carolann and Dwight Banks, Tanya and Michelle Watkins and Daniel Fraga.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., today at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy and at the church one hour prior to the service.
