Ariton softball downs Charles Henderson

Charles Henderson softball got off to a strong start in Thursday’s matchup against Ariton, but was unable to stop the resurgent Purple Cats in the fifth inning as Ariton claims a 13-3 victory.
The Trojans picked up a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with Brittany Williams picking up an RBI single as she sent in Victoria Outlaw for the lead.
Ariton quickly answered back in the top of the second inning Caitlin Butler sent in pinch runner Madison Knox for an RBI to tie the game. Charles Henderson struggled in the bottom of the second as Ariton pitcher Taylor Hornsby recorded two straight strikeouts. She went on to six strikeouts on the day.
In the top of the third Ariton claimed their first lead with Haley Goodson picking up a RBI single to give the Purple Cats a 2-1 lead. However it was the top of the fifth inning where Ariton would find their stride. Seven separate Purple Cats recorded a RBI; three of which recorded two or more as Ariton batted through their line up to pick up a 12-1 lead.
Charles Henderson made one final stand in bottom of the fifth Becca Hartley and Victoria Outlaw both picked up runs to make the score 13-3.
The game was called at the end of five with Ariton claiming victory.
