Thursday Night in the Studio soon will give way to the hazy, crazy days of summer. So those who enjoy these evenings of fun, food and fellowship in downtown Troy won’t want to miss the this week’s event.
Thursday Night in the Studio on Thursday will feature entertainment by Johnny Barron and Shelia Jackson and Friends.
“We’re all familiar with Johnny and Shelia and Sheila will bring along several of her very talented friends so we know the entertainment will be great,” said Morgan Drinkard, Johnson Center for the Arts interim director.
Thursday Nights are actually indoor tailgate parties. Everyone is invited to bring his or her favorite tailgate or picnic foods and enjoy dining “in.”
The doors of The Studio will open at 6 p.m. and the entertainment will begin at 7 p.m.
Tickets for Thursday Night are $12.50 each and tables for eight may be reserved by calling 670-2287.
After Thursday Night in May, Drinkard said there will be a summer break for the Thursday Night events.
The May 3, Thursday Night will feature bluegrass music as a lead-in to Margo Russell’s bluegrass exhibition at the Johnson Center for the Arts in June.
Russell’s artwork depicts people pickin’ and grinnin’ and will feature Rex Locklar’s Bluegrass Festival in Henderson.
“We’ll be back with Thursday Night in The Studio in the fall,” Drinkard said. “The Thursday Night events are very popular and are always well attended. And, they are an opportunity to spend an entertaining evening right here a home.
“Thursday Night at The Studio events are fund-raisers for the Johnson Center for the Arts so we appreciate those who come out in support of the arts.
“The mission of the Troy-Pike Cultural Arts Center is to further cultural arts enrichment in the community. The Johnson Center for the Arts offers a wide variety of exhibitions throughout the year but we also don’t want to forget the performing arts. Thursday Night in The Studio allows us to promote the performing arts as well.”
