Lola Flowers

Lola Flowers, 100, of Detroit, Mich., and formerly of Brundidge, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2000.

Services will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000 at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Elder K.D. March Sr., pastor, and Bishop Carl McComb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Bell’s Liptrot/Dawson Funeral Home directing.

She was born March 3, 1900 in Pike County to Gus Pryor and Luvonia Bell Pryor. She was one of 16 children. Her early education was obtained through the Pike County School System.

At an early age, she joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was married to Plez Flowers. Although the couple had no biological children, they raised her sister’s children after her death. For health reasons, she eventually left Alabama to go live with her sister in Detroit.

Survivors include two sisters, Lucille Pryor of Detroit, and Vannie Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
