The Annual Brundidge Arts and Crafts Show will be taking on a slightly different look this Saturday.

After 28 years, the Brundidge Business Association (BBA) has expanded the show to include antiques and collectibles, said Jimmy Hollis, coordinator of the event.

"This year our show will be billed as the Brundidge Craft, Antique and Collectible Show," Hollis said. "We felt this type of show would fit in well with the Antique City theme that we are promoting."

Because this is the first year the show will include antiques and collectibles, Hollis said the BBA is not expecting a lot of those booths. However, that area will be one of growth in the coming years.

"We will have some vendors who have collectibles such as cards, knives and arrowheads but we don’t expect a large number of those booths but there will be enough to give the show a little different look."

Hollis said 40 vendors have pre-registered and the number one item will be woodwork.

"We have several vendors who specialize in woodwork items – household items, lawn furniture, birdhouses and children’s toys," he said. "These will make nice additions to the home or the lawn and the toys will be great for Christmas gifts."

A knife maker will also demonstrate his trade and have a variety of knives for sale.

"We’ll have many holiday gift items and decorations for the home and lawn," Hollis said. "We’ll have ceramics, needlepoint, tee shirts, handmade clothing, jewelry, plaques – anything that you normally see at an arts and crafts show."

The Troy State University Art Guild will also have a booth and will show and sell some of their paintings, graphic items and other art works.

Several food vendors will tempt visitors to the show with a variety of food items from cotton candy to Polish sausage, hamburgers and hot dogs.

"We will also have a lot of ‘goodies’ available," Hollis said. "Helen Harden will have a booth of her homemade sweets and treats and that’s always a popular stop for any visitor to the show."

The Pike County High School Sportsboosters will have barbecue plates available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. and you might want to come early to make sure you don’t miss some of the best barbecue around.

The downtown merchants have been asked by the BBA to have store specials for the day to encourage visitors to go into the stores and see all of the variety of items Brundidge has to offer shoppers.

Some of the merchants will have sidewalk sales. Others will have inside-the-store promotions.

Hollis said there is more excitement surrounding this year’s show and it should be better than shows of the past.

"There are still spaces available for food and craft vendors," he said. "We encourage pre-registration but it’s not required. So, we also welcome those who just show up Saturday morning."

There is no admission charge to the Brundidge Craft, Antique and Collectible Show which is held on the grounds of the historic Bass House in downtown Brundidge. Show time is from 8 a.m . until 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attended.
