Sunday at TSU’s Crosby Theater

The best things in life are free and many of them are opportunities offered through Troy State University.

One of those opportunities will come at 2:30 Sunday afternoon when the John M. Long School of Music a TSU presents its Fall Choral Concert at the Claudia Crosby Theater.

Admission is open to the public and is free of charge.

The concert will feature a variety of choral music from many traditions and many parts of the world.

"The Fall Choral Concert should have something that appeals to everybody," said Dr. Terre Johnson, director of choral music at TSU. "The concert will feature 125 performers from five student choirs at the university and will present a broad range of music."

On stage will be the Collegiate Singers, the Chamber Choir, the Women’s Ensemble, the Gospel Choir and the Opera Ensemble. So, no matter what one’s preference in music, there will be something for everyone.

Included in the concert will be pieces by Canadian and Indian composers, African-American spirituals and sacred and secular music by U.S. composers. Selections will be performed with instrumental accompaniment and a cappella.

Assisting Johnson in directing the combine choir will be TSU Faculty members, Dr. William Denison, Dr. Catherine Allard and Stephen Langford.

The Fall Choral Concert is just one of many opportunities for area residents to benefit from and enjoy the many talented students who attend their "hometown" university.

Everyone is invited to come out Sunday afternoon and enjoy an afternoon of beautiful music. One hundred and twenty-five university students will appreciate your support.
