Troy State placekicker Lawrence Tynes earned Southland Football League Special Teams Player Of The Week honors for the second consecutive week on Sunday after helping the Trojans to a 41-12 homecoming victory over Nicholls State on Saturday.

Tynes, a senior from Milton, Fla., converted both field goal attempts against the Colonels, from 46 and 35 yards, and all five point-after attempts to finish with 11 points. He opened the game with his 46-yard attempt on the Trojans’ first drive and finished the day’s scoring with his 35-yarder in the fourth quarter.

Tynes also recorded two touchbacks in eight kickoff attempts. Three other kickoff returns were stopped inside the 20-yard line.

A week ago, Tynes became the school’s all-time leader in field goals made in a career. He now has 41 made field goals in 56 career attempts and is 117-of-121 on point-after attempts. Tynes has made 43 consecutive points after, dating back to the 1999 season.

Tenth-ranked Troy State (6-2, 3-1) returns to Southland Football League play this week when it travels to Stephen F. Austin (5-3, 2-2). Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in Nacogdoches, Texas.
