Ellen Spangler Lawrence

Ellen Spangler Lawrence, 79, of 201 Murphree St., Troy, died Friday, September 29, 2000 at Edge Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at Green Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Thack Dyson officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Troy officiating.
Survivors include his son, Roberts (Bob) Lawrence of Troy.
Ms. Lawrence was a life-long member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Pallbearers will be Hubert Brown Jr., Jimmy Gaskin, S. Kenneth Hendricks, Chris Schubert, Louis Corley Sr., Dr. Michael N. Gordon, W. David Price and Joel Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be the Women of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000 at Dillard Funeral Home of Troy.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
Mamie Gibson Macon
Mamie Gibson Macon, 88, formerly of Grady, died Saturday, September 30, 2000 at Hill View Terrace Nursing Home.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, October 2, 2000 at Sampey Memorial Baptist Church with Dr. Norman J. McCrummen and the Rev. Chuck Francisco officiating. Burial will follow at Ramer Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty M. Menefee of Grady; brothers, Wesley Gibson of Chicago, Paul Gibson of Pleasant Grove; 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren.
Ms. Macon was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Macon; sons, George W. Macon Jr., Frank M. Macon; daughters Dorothy M. Norman and Syble M. Russell.
Pallbearers will be Larry (Buddy) Menefee, Jimmy Norman, James W. (Billy) Macon, Davis Norman and Frank Macon Jr.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 2, 2000.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ramer Cemetery Fund or Sampey Memorial Baptist Church.
Frank Edward Taylor
Frank Edward Taylor, 55, of 129 Daisy Court, Troy, died September 26, 2000 at Pike Manor Nursing Facility.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2000 at Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Julius Buskey officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mt. Zion Church cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Sims Taylor; mother, Vela Taylor; two sons, Dion Taylor of Columbia S.C. and Frank E. Taylor Jr. both of Sumter S.C.; two stepchildren, Theresa Sims of Sumter S.C., Andre Sims of Tarrytown N.Y.; four sisters, Mary Alice Taylor of Buffalo, N.Y.; Mary Helen Williams of Sebring, Fla., Catherine Taylor White of Bronx, N.Y., Edna Jewell McCollough of Troy; two brothers, Willie Taylor of and Charles Taylor, both of Troy and a special nephew Clarence Taylor of Troy; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews,cousins, friends and Doris Shy, a special friend.
Mr. Taylor was born to Mr. J. C. Taylor and Vela Taylor. He was member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Goshen AL.
Mr. Taylor moved from Troy, to Ossinging, N.Y. where he met Louise Sims. They married in 1966 in Tarrytown, N.Y. He was a member of Augustus Lodge 137 District 12 New York, New York.
Visitation will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 10, 2000 and noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000.
