Troy hosts Western Kentucky on Oct. 11.

Western Kentucky senior quarterback Kawaun Jakes will undergo an MRI today (Monday) to check out his left knee. Jakes did not play in the second half of Western’s 26-13 win over Arkansas State last week. Here is the story from the College Heights Herald. Here’s WKU beat writer Chad Bishop’s story also.

Troy’s defense has played well in the last two games allowing just 24 points. The Trojans will be tested as a good Western Kentucky team comes to town. The Hilltoppes are 4-1 and also have the week off heading into the Oct. 11 game with Troy.

WKU rushed for 243 yards against Ark State. Antonio Andrews rushed for a career-high 215 yards on 29 carries. It was his third consecutive 100-yard game.

INJURY UPDATE
Shermane TeArt suffered a stinger on the first play of the second half against South Alabama. D-Line coach Randy Butler said he expects TeArt to be fine for Western Kentucky.

Jimmie Arnold sprained his ankle against South Alabama. Troy coaches say they will monitor his progress daily and see how his recovery goes. We likely won’t get a definitive answer until next week. He is hopeful to play.

Cornerback Ethan Davis has missed all five games recovering from a knee injury. Davis has been cleared to play, but coaches say they will let him make the call on whether he plays or not.
